Leaving on a jet plane (part 2)

One of the highlights of our trip to Charlotte was visiting the US National Whitewater Center. During the summer, every Thursday evening is the Subaru River Jam featuring "great local music and the best sunset around". Well... the music was so-so, but it was fun to see the whitewater (even if it is man-made)! We're already looking forward to taking Sam and Baby G on a multi-day whitewater rafting trip.

I forgot to mention that Olympians train at this center. Too bad no one was training on the evening we were there! It was exciting to think about Olympians training there in preparation for the games in Beijing. I think Annie & Matt went to one of the competitions held there a few weeks earlier.

The center is open to the public and you can raft the courses (with a guide, of course!) for about $30.

I was just thinking of you guys today, hadn't checked the blog in the while and wanted to make sure everyone (especially Baby G) was doing well! Looks like you guys are staying busy. I love the pictures you post of Sam--he is more adorable every day I think. We miss you all and hope you can come for a visit soon!--Rachel & Aaron
