A great weekend

Aunt Tara (Rob's sister) holds the big guy

Mrs. W (Michele's mom) and sister Sarah

Forrest (Michele's dad) and sister Angela

Taking a nap on Grandpa's lap

Hanging out with dad, and looking pretty concerned about the St. Louis Cardinals who can't seem to win a game for anything.

We had a great time, and we're already looking forward to this next weekend with Auntie Annie visiting from North Carolina!

Dern technology

Sam arrived 3 weeks early... before I had a chance to buy a digital camera (I know, it's pretty amazing we've never owned one. I guess we've always been satisfied with our 35mm). As I mentioned in an earlier post, we've been blessed with great friends. Jeremy & Wendy let us borrow their digital camera for a few days until Tobin arrived. Then Greg & Stacey let us borrow theirs... and now we've had it for 3 weeks and still haven't bought our own! But my procrastination has finally caught up with me. A few days ago I tried to pull 2 weeks of photos off their camera... and the memory card tells me it must be formatted, which will presumably delete all photos. We'll track down a real photographer on Monday and see if there's any hope of retrieving the photos... but I don't think there's much hope. Anyway, that's why I haven't posted any new photos lately.

One of Sam's favorite aunt's is visiting today -- and she brought her digital camera. (Thanks, Tara!) Here's a good photo of him napping:

Letters to the Editor, Vol. 1

One of my favorite songwriters, Andrew Osenga, has just released a Web CD.

Couple of cool things about this project:
  1. It's available by download only (click the photo above for a direct link). If you like the music, he asks for contributions through Paypal.

  2. He asked his blog readers for ideas for all the songs. They threw out ideas and he worked several of them into song lyrics.

  3. He found some software where his blog readers could record background vocals and send them to him. He received more than 50 replies, and he meshed them all into one of the songs as a chorus. He calls them "webground vocals".

  4. From inception to completion, he spent 20 days total on this project.

Pretty amazing!

Hey everyone, meet Sam

After some heated arguments, a few tears, and an arm-wrestling match, we finally agreed on a name... Samuel Robert Gasaway. Well maybe it wasn't that dramatic. But we did struggle with a name -- there are just too many that we like! We finally settled on Samuel because of the Old Testament story of Hanna and her son Samuel. For many years she prayed for a baby and finally God gave her one. We can identify, as we've hoped and prayed for a child for about 5 years. Samuel means "God heard me".

We've been blessed with great friends, two of whom are Jeremy & Wendy. They had a son arrive on May 30th -- Tobin Rockford Isaac Osborne. Michele and Wendy were roommates for a day. Here they are showing off their baby boys:
