Tossing cookies

My streak has finally come to an end. It lasted 7,311 days (give or take). Not bad by any measure. But still... it's a streak I'd like to have continued forever.

What streak, you ask? Tossing cookies. I think the last time was junior high -- something like 20 years ago... or around 7300 days (20 years x 365 days). At least that's the last one I remember. I stayed home from school because I felt sick. And that meant staying next door at Grandma G's. She fixed some delicious homemade vegetable soup for lunch. Afterwards I was resting on the couch... and then that undeniable urge came.

That same urge overpowered me at work on Monday evening. Fortunately everyone else had already gone home for the day. I had just talked with Michele and told her I was feeling awful and coming home soon. Then it happened. Thankfully my trash can was within easy reach.

The surprising part? It wasn't that bad. I mean it wasn't great by any stretch. But after it happened I felt 10 times better... and I actually kept working a little longer, knowing it probably wouldn't be the last of the cookie tossing and I'd probably need a few days off.

I was right on both accounts. I won't elaborate on the additional cookie tossing, but I did take off 2 sick days on Tuesday and Wednesday. And in between the sleeping and cooking tossing, it occurred to me... this could be the last time that I'm home by myself for a long time. A baby is coming!!

New Question of the Week:
How long is your streak? (When was the last time you tossed your cookies?!) If there's a memorable story, please share.

My answer to last week's question:
I'll go with Country Kitchen. Our local restaurant has some great food... but the smokey smell is overwhelming, so we rarely go there. I'm hoping they do a deep cleaning once our smoke-free ordinance kicks in!

Also worth mentioning:
Grandpa Lawson e-mailed a reply to last week's question:
"Rob, your blog update and question are too complicated for me --- but I will comment with one word----probably totally out of context----TWINS!!!!"

Sug, you're a freak of nature if you have not vomited in over 7,000 days.

I don't know that your streak will last another 7,000+ days either, considering you are going to have a little one who will bring you all kinds of germies home from his/her childcare... :)

Memorable story? One time I vomited in the removable cupholder of my car, because i didn't get pulled over to the side of the road in time to get the door open and do so... Pretty attractive, huh!?

Be warned: not for the faint of heart!!

Well, last semester I wasn't feeling too well, so, my body told me something had to happen: puke or diarrhea. I chose to toss the cookies as Bobcat lovingly says. I share a bathroom with a smelly suitemate (not Jarr, he's clean) who leaves fun "gifts" on the wall, toilet, and floor after doing certain bodily tasks. So, when I went to puke, my instincts told me to not go into the bathroom without shoes or grab the toilet for dear life when the puking process began. As you all could guess, I said "no" to my instincts and ran into the bathroom with no inhabitations. With that said, I felt dirtier after puking. Yuck to the fifth power. I would probably have done better if I tossed the cookies on my shirt. Fin ("The End" in French).

Moral of the story--Don't leave "gifts" in the bathroom because chances are, someone will eventually toss the cookies.

That is bizarre that you haven't thrown up in that long Robert. I throw up so often I am having trouble figuring out which time was the most recent. I think it was last winter when I had to stay home from work with some sort of stomach bug. I threw up twice that day, but I haven't since.
I think my best vomitus story is from when I was about 8. I had been down at my Dad's in Arkansas visiting and we were on our way back to St. Clair. One of my friends had decided to ride with us. We were driving through the mountains and she got car sick. We had to pull over so she could throw up and as soon as she did, I started throwing up.
I think there is a story about you getting car sick in the back seat of mom and dad's new car on a trip. Dad started getting mad because you had thrown up all over the new car and then I started throwing up after seeing you throw up which got him even more mad. :)
I still have that reaction to vomit. When I was a nurse on the peds floor if I had a kid with vomiting I knew I was in trouble. If I was in the room I would give the kid a basin and run out and get the aide. I just couldn't take it.
Here is a little tip from an experienced vomiter. If you feel horribly nauseated, just stick your finger down your throat and puke. You will feel so much better!!

I realize this is a very old post ~ but couldn't resist answering. Don't know that anyone will ever see it, but I have gone 13505 days ~ more or less ~ without vomiting. I think that is probably the worst thing ever ~ yuck. Somewhere in the spring of 1972 ~
